Shawn Brown shares his Power Rankings after Week 1 of the 2024 NFL Season

By Shawn Brown| Writer for SBHL Networks

Week 1 in the books led to some unexpected Power Rankings shake up. As with every year, the first few weeks are highly volatile.

Biggest Movers

+5 (JonLegends, 10 to 5, The Gold Standard, 12 to 7) & -7 (Coldhearted Krispies 2 to 9, The 37th Chamber 5 to 12)

1. Shawn Brady (▲3)

1-0 | 132 PPG

Scoring the 2nd highest this season, playing in the hardest division, Shawn Brady's reign at the top of the Power Rankings might be short lived. Veteran WR Tyreek Hill (22.50 pts.) picked up right where he left off last season, leading SB's receiving core, and leading them to a victory. The main story this week was Saquon Barkley, RB1 on the week, putting up 32.20 pts  with 109 rushing yards, 23 receiving yards and 3 total TDs. Rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. had a dismissible performance of less than 1 point.

2. Ronnie's Squad (▼1)

1-0 | 121 PPG

With Ronnie's Squad starting the season at the top of our rankings, the only place they could go, was down. Although RS has the strong rest of season roster, they were the 4th highest scorer in Week 1. With a terrible outting by Mark Andrews, RS made a weekend trade to attain George Kittle. As usual, RS's air attack was unmatched Justin Jefferson (13.90 pts.), CeeDee Lamb (11.10 pts.), A.J. Brown (20.40 pts.), and off-season acquisition Cooper Kupp (25.00 pts.).

3. Horsedick boy'z (▲4)

1-0 | 140 PPG

The highest scoring team this week, we had to put HDB in the Top 5. Coming from a Week 1 Power Ranking of #7, we could not give them the #1 spot with just a single win and a high score. HDB was carried by Lamar Jackson (27.12 pts.), Jameson Williams (21.90 pts.) and Brandon Aubrey (21 pts.). The next best performer Chris Godwin (18.30 pts.) had a great game, but will not be a part of the HDB team going forward. GM Fadi has traded Chris Godwin and the next 3 drafts for Kenneth Walker III & Jordan Addison. We can't tell if this will help or hurt in the near future (Walker & Addison are injured), but it will definitely be a tough hole to climb out of going forward.

4. SINCERE's Team (▲2)

1-0 | 106 PPG

SINCERE's Team suffered a huge blow with the new that CMC will miss a few games, but that did not stop ST from starting CMC (no viable option, and CMC played the MNF game) beating Coldhearted Krispies by 6 points. SINCERE's Team scored better than half of the league (scoring 8th highest), but they may drop down a few more spots until CMC gets healthy.

5. JonLegends (▲5)

1-0 | 121 PPG

JonLegends starts off the season scoring the most in their division behind rookie QB Jayden Daniels (28.15 pts.) and K Jake Moody (26.00 pts.) A solid turnout from sophomore RB Jahmyr Gibbs (15.40 pts.) and sophomore WR Rashee Rice. As a division leader, we had to put JonLegends in the Top 5 of this week's power rankings.

6. ThatManAgain... (▼3)

1-0 | 85 PPG

Last year's runner-up eeked out a win despite scoring 10th this week. An abysmal start by 3 of their main point scorers Joe Burrow, Davante Adams and DK Metcalf (all scoring in single digits), we couldn't drop them far down our rankings as they should have a fine bounce back Week 2.

7. The Gold Standard (▲5)

1-0 | 118 PPG

The Gold Standard scored 5th highest this week with a Jekyll and Hyde lineup, with 6 players scoring double digits and 4 players scoring single digits, they were still able to put up a respectable outing.

8. Julio Think You Are? I Am! ◄►

0-1 | 117 PPG

It's hard to move last year's champion too far down our rankings, as Julio Think You Are? I Am! put up the 6th highest score this week. They are in the toughest division, so even though they are a strong team, they will need a strong season to make the playoffs in the Legends Division. JTYAIA had a tough Week 1 going up against our #1 power ranked team, with the #2 ranked team this week. Not adding to their roster through the draft, and only through one off-season trade (adding WR George Pickens, but losing WR Cooper Kupp and RB Aaron Jones), it's hard to think they go stronger this year.

9. Cold Hearted Krispies (▼7)

0-1 | 99 PPG

CHK went up against the #4 team this year and would have lost if they faced another division opponent, the perennial playoff contender has a big mountain to climb this season. A solid lineup at every position should mean CHK will rise in our rankings as the season progresses.

10. Subject to Change (▲1)

0-1 | 111 PPG

The champion two years removed rounds out our Top 10. Subject to Change came out swinging, and had they had any other divisional matchup  this week they would have walked away with a win, they didn't. The 1.01 they traded out of would not have only been a hindrance this week, but the 1.12 (WR Ladd McConkey) they traded for served to be a solid contributor.

11. SexySandwich (▼2)

0-1 | 83 PPG

SexySandwich had the tough task of taking on our #3 last week, and would have won against their other two division mates (who they face the next two weeks), the next few weeks looks to be where they will gain some ground in our rankings. Starters at every position means SS should put up some solid numbers going forward.

12. The 37th Chamber (▼7)

0-1 | 71 PPG

37C only had two players score double-digits and had a poor showing against TMA in a rematch of last year's divisional round. With bets on players who project to do better, but are in interesting situations, are masters of their own fate and need to take control of their season before it gets out of hand.

13. I'll Fuck Your Dad (▲1)

1-0 | 64 PPG

I'll Fuck Your Dad started off the season with a nail-biter of a game (win margin of less than 2 points), lucked out due to a roster mistake by their opponent. As they sold off key contributors (RB Kenneth Walker III and WR Jordan Addison), IFYD might already be looking forward to next season.

14. 21 Cabbage (▲2)

0-1 | 77 PPG

21 Cabbage is in a tough position. They are the expansion team in the toughest division betting on young players to carry them to the promise land. Not projected to win very many games, but maintaining a competitive team (if their young players step up), 21C is a promising team that can slowly inch up our rankings this season.

15. Untouchables ◄►

0-1 | 72 PPG

Unouchables are anchored at QB by Anthony Richardson and a few players looking to be key contributor as the season progresses, we need to see more than 2 players hit double digits before we can move them from #15.

16. Team_MAGA (▼3)

0-1 | 62 PPG

Team_MAGA rounds out our power rankings due to the fact that they have 3 solid players and and some players that are slowly going down in production due to situation. QB Justin Herbert, WR Nico Collins and RB David Montgomery were all solid players just a season or two ago, but have fallen on difficult situations to start the year. Scoring the lowest this week we had to put them at #16.
