The South Bay Hyphy League voted on expanding the league in the 2021 off-season.

The vote passed with a 92% approval rating, resulting in the addition of 4 teams that were on the waitlist.

Draft Rules

• Each SBHL Team protected 8 players

• When 1 player gets selected by an expansion team the team that was stolen from may protect an additional player

• If the player chosen by an expansion team is a restricted free agent (in the SBHL), that player is not considered a restricted free agent for the 2022 season

• Expansion teams must select 7 players from current rosters

• Starting in round 8, expansion teams may selected unrestricted free agents (in the SBHL)

Draft Order

The draft order was decided by a Draft Lottery with the winning team selecting their position in the Expansion Draft, which also decided their division and 2022 Rookie Draft order.

• 1st pick in the Expansion Draft would have last pick of the expansion teams in the 2022 Rookie Draft.

• 1st pick would also join the strongest division based on 2021 Power Rankings, Legends

Abe Froman won the Draft Lottery, and elected to go 2nd.
